چکیده

We apply a Gaussian state formalism to track fluctuating perturbations that act on the position and momentum quadrature variables of harmonic oscillator. Following seminal proposal by Tsang Caves [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 123601 (2010)], Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations with an ancillary oscillator are leveraged significantly improve estimates as relevant sensor can be arbitrarily squeezed while evading adverse effects from conjugate, antisqueezed variables. Our real-time analysis continuous monitoring system employs hybrid quantum-classical description quantum probe unknown classical perturbations, it provides general establish achievements sensing scheme how they depend different parameters.

Quantum Backaction Evading Measurement of Collective Mechanical Modes.

The standard quantum limit constrains the precision of an oscillator position measurement. It arises from a balance between the imprecision and the quantum backaction of the measurement. However, a measurement of only a single quadrature of the oscillator can evade the backaction and be made with arbitrary precision. Here we demonstrate quantum backaction evading measurements of a collective qu...

Harmonic Oscillator with Fluctuating Mass

We generalize the previously considered cases of a harmonic oscillator subject to a random force (Brownian motion), or having random frequency, or random damping. We consider here a random mass which corresponds to an oscillator where the particles of the surrounding medium adhere to the oscillator for some (random) time after collision, thereby changing the oscillator mass. Such a model is app...

PCA with Gaussian perturbations

Most of machine learning deals with vector parameters. Ideally we would like to take higher order information into account and make use of matrix or even tensor parameters. However the resulting algorithms are usually inefficient. Here we address on-line learning with matrix parameters. It is often easy to obtain online algorithm with good generalization performance if you eigendecompose the cu...

Theory of ground state cooling of a mechanical oscillator using dynamical backaction.

A quantum theory of cooling of a mechanical oscillator by radiation pressure-induced dynamical backaction is developed, which is analogous to sideband cooling of trapped ions. We find that final occupancies well below unity can be attained when the mechanical oscillation frequency is larger than the optical cavity linewidth. It is shown that the final average occupancy can be retrieved directly...

Dynamical backaction of microwave fields on a nanomechanical oscillator.

We measure the response and thermal motion of a high-Q nanomechanical oscillator coupled to a superconducting microwave cavity in the resolved-sideband regime where the oscillator's resonance frequency exceeds the cavity's linewidth. The coupling between the microwave field and mechanical motion is strong enough for radiation pressure to overwhelm the intrinsic mechanical damping. This radiatio...
